7. Please rest as much as possible for the first few days after your operation
8. Notify us if there is excessive pain, swelling or bleeding from the breast

EYELID REDUCTION
1. Please take all medications as directed
2. Sleep on 2 or 3 pillows to keep the head elevated. This will reduce swelling
3. Avoid bending down. Keep your head elevated at all times
4. Always clean your hands before touching or caring for your wounds
5. Use cold saline or cold water (boil first then chill) packs frequently to reduce swelling and soothe discomfort
6. Clean the eyes with a moist cotton bud 3 times a day
7. If there is excessive redness or irritation with your wound/s, or signs of infection, or if you develop a fever above 37.5°, please telephone our rooms on the numbers above. If you are unable to contact us at the rooms, please telephone the after hours number instead
8. If there is severe pain or visual impairment contact us immediately – this would be an extremely unlikely occurrence
For lubrication of the eyes purchase:
• Day: “Refresh” or “Murine Revital Eyes” or similar eye lubricant
• Night: “Viscotears Liquid Gel”
Please take care when applying lubricant to your eyes not to pull on the upper or lower eyelid wounds
Medication – Possible Adverse Reaction

• Viscotears Liquid Gel – Mild transient burning, sticky eyelids, blurred vision

LABIOPLASTY
1. For the first 2 days – ice pack on and off every hour whilst awake

3. For the first two days after surgery take 2 Panadol every six hours for pain relief. DO NOT TAKE ASPIRIN/NUROFEN
4. Change pads frequently

6. No tight jeans / pants
7. Wear supportive underwear
8. If excessive swelling or bleeding, contact Dr Thornbury immediately
Possible adverse reactions and drug interactions:
• Panadol: (Rare) Stomach upset, nausea, rash
• (Paracetamol): [see below]
NB: Paracetamol may be used to treat pain, or temperatures over 38ºC. It is not to be used for mild fever, gastroenteritis or as a sedative.
Oral Paracetamol dosage recommendations for adults and children after puberty: Use Paracetamol 4 to 6 hourly, with a maximum of 6 tablets daily, and for no more than 48 – 36 hours for patients of normal or average build. If pain persists seek medical advice before continuing.
All patients taking Paracetamol for extended periods should be aware of the Paracetamol content in over the counter and prescription products that they are taking as there could be an increased risk of liver problems.
If you encounter any adverse reaction/s to any of your medications, cease the medication and contact your Surgeon (refer to the Post Operative Instructions sheet) for further advice.

6. Apply ice packs to your forehead and eyes regularly, especially for the first 48 hours
7. Don’t get hot with exercise, hot showers etc. as this may cause bleeding
8. Don’t blow your nose or sneeze
9. Take your antibiotic tablets as instructed
10. If you have excessive bleeding please let us know

WOUND CARE
The local anaesthetic will wear off in 3 – 4 hours. After that you may require Panadol/Panadeine Forte. Avoid Nurofen.
Avoid:
•Please do not exercise for 48 hours after your procedure as raising your blood pressure can result in bleeding
• Please avoid alcohol for 24 hours as this can make your wound bleed
• Avoid swimming in pools or ocean for 2 weeks
Bleeding:
If there is any bleeding please apply firm pressure to the spot for 20 minutes with clean tissues. A cold pack may also help to stop bleeding. Please contact the rooms if bleeding persists.
Infection:
If there is excessive redness or irritation with your wound/s, or signs of infection, or if you develop a fever above 37.5°, please telephone our rooms on the numbers above. If you are unable to contact us at the rooms, please telephone the after hours number instead.
Dressing Management:
• Always clean your hands before touching or caring for your wounds
• Leave steri strips intact and you can shower over them from 24 hours. Replace as required
• Dressings to remain dry and intact until removal of sutures
• Apply Chlorsig ointment to the wound twice a day
• Remove dressing after 48 hours and apply Chlorsig ointment twice a day
