Dr.
Michael Poole trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery and
head and neck surgery in the UK and USA. Previously a consultant
in plastic and reconstructive surgery, The Radcliffe Infirmary,
Oxford United Kingdom; Director, Oxford Craniofacial Unit, Oxford
United Kingdom; Clinical Reader in Surgery, University of Oxford,
Oxford United Kingdom and editor of the British Journal of Plastic
Surgery.
Presently
Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, University of New
South Wales and The St. George Hospital Clinical School; Head, Department
of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery/Head and Neck Surgery, The
St. George Hospital, Sydney and Director, Craniofacial Clinic, Children's
Hospital at Westmead, Sydney.
Dr.
Michael Poole has previously been a member and office bearer of
numerous societies involving head and neck surgery, craniofacial
surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery.
He is currently President of the Australian and New Zealand Head
and Neck Society and Vice-President of the Australian and New Zealand
Society of Cranio -Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Professor
Poole is author of numerous papers on topics related to reconstructive
plastic surgery, mainly of the head and neck involving cancer and
of craniofacial surgery. He is active in research in the areas of
distraction osteogenesis and the induction of angiogenesis in soft
tissues and bone.
